In the rice export business, quality failures are expensive. A rejected shipment, a customs hold or a buyer complaint can cost more than the value of the entire consignment - in money, time and reputation.
At Draba Ventures, we don't treat quality as a marketing claim. We treat it as a system. A step-by-step process that is followed for every order, every container, every time. Here's exactly how it works?
Our Quality Standards
Our 6-Step Quality Process
Step 1 - Mill Selection & Verification
We source only from approved mills in the known region that we have personally visited and verified. Each mill partner is assessed for their processing infrastructure, hygiene standards and previous export track record. We do not work with unknown or unverified mills regardless of price advantage.
Step 2 - Pre-Purchase Lot Inspection
Before purchasing any lot, our team physically visits the mill and inspects the rice. We check grain appearance, moisture using a certified moisture meter, broken grain percentage visually and by weight and foreign matter content. Only lots meeting our specifications are purchased.
Step 3 - Processing & Sortex
All rice goes through colour sorting (Sortex) to remove discoloured, damaged or foreign grains. This is done at the mill under our supervision. For parboiled rice, we verify the steaming and drying process meets export standards. Final processing quality is verified before bagging.
Step 4 - Packaging & Bag Verification
We use new PP woven bags (25kg or 50kg as per buyer specification). Each bag is checked for integrity - no holes, no weak seams, no contamination. Bags are stitched and sealed on-site. For private label orders, we verify printing accuracy before bagging begins.
Step 5 - Container Inspection Before Stuffing
Before loading, the container is inspected for structural integrity, cleanliness, absence of moisture and no previous contamination. We do not load rice into containers that show rust, moisture stains or odours. Container number and seal number are photographed and shared with the buyer.
Step 6 - Documentation & Post-Shipment
All export documents (Commercial Invoice, BL, Packing List, Phytosanitary Certificate, Certificate of Origin, APEDA Certificate and Fumigation Certificate) are prepared and verified internally before being shared with the buyer. Originals are couriered via DHL within 2 days of vessel departure.
We are physically present in Sindhanur, not operating remotely. This means we can visit mills, inspect lots and supervise loading in person. That physical presence is a quality advantage that remote brokers and traders cannot offer.
What This Means for You as a Buyer?
When you order from Draba Ventures? you are not buying from a desk trader who never sees the rice? You are buying from a team that is on the ground in the sourcing region, working with verified mills and personally accountable for every lot that ships.
- You get the variety and grade you ordered - not a substitute
- Your moisture and broken grain specs are met - not approximate
- Your documents are complete before the vessel sails - not assembled after
- Your container arrives on schedule - not delayed by sourcing failures
This is how we build long-term buyer relationships - not through promises, but through consistent delivery.
Request a Sample Before You Order
We encourage every new buyer to request a physical sample before placing a container order. We dispatch samples via courier and you can verify the quality yourself before any commercial commitment. This is standard practice for serious buyers and we welcome it.
